Mark P. Taylor（马克泰勒）主要从事环境科学研究，在重金属污染、重金属的来源及识别、矿产开发及冶炼对人体健康的影响评估、公众环境健康等方面有着深入的研究。在跨学科研究、教学及工程管理与设计、流域和水资源管理（包括状态评估、污染、气候特征及土地使用影响）等方面有着丰富的研究经验，发表研究论著70余篇。担任新南威尔士州土地及环境法院专员，参与数十个环境与规划方面的法院判决和调解，擅长在科学、法律和环境方面与社区、自然资源组织和媒体（电视、广播、报纸）之间的沟通交流，是富有经验的环境法院专家顾问。近年来，致力于参与式的环境科学研究，关注公众健康及环境保护，开展VegeSafe土壤重金属分析计划，帮助社区及居民了解自家院子里土壤的安全性。

报告简介：

This talk will discuss our new (2013) VegeSafe soil metal analysis program that we run for the Australian community atMacquarieUniversity. The project seeks to inform people about metals and metalloids in their garden soils. Our program currently provides a free sampling program for domestic garden soils. Participants receive a formal report and links to information and advice about 'what to do next' in the event of soils containing elevated concentrations of metals and metalloids. Our purpose is to extend our network of community involvement so that we can provide a more routine service to members of the community in the interests of public health and environmental protection. In delivering the talk issues associated with soil contamination inSydneywill be examined.
