内容简介:The ability to find order in chaos is a unique human achievement. The way the neocortex integrates information over time plays an important role in enabling rich statistical structures embedded in the environment to be captured in the brain. In this talk a biologically motivated neural network model will be reported that reacts to not only how often a pattern occurs (probability) but also when a pattern is to occur (waiting time). The model naturally produces the alternation bias in the gambler’s fallacy and therefore supports a rational account for human probabilistic reasoning. The implications on deriving a normative, descriptive, and biologically plausible mathematics of the brain will be discussed.

王宏斌博士是国际著名认知心理学专家，现任职美国德州农工大学医学院教授（终身教职），生物医学信息学中心共同主任。他长期从事认知科学与脑科学的研究，专注于人类认知架构、机器学习与人工智能。
